Land Resources: Sports & Leisure |
 |

Sport and leisure facilities include stadiums, golf courses, theme parks and recreation areas, etc. Theme parks are often the driving force for commercial and/or mixed developments in surrounding areas. The planning of theme parks must take in account of location, accessibility, circulation, composition, and basic infrastructure design. An example is the Discovery World, a theme park located in central Taiwan. The park is a BOT policy-driven project aimed to attract the yearly 6 million tourists who spend US$ 10 billion abroad each year for recreation and tourism. The theme park has a size of 200 hectares with direct access to national freeways. It is programmed and designed with the latest technology. Stadiums are also important landmark projects that attract commercial developments to surrounding areas. As countries develop, leisure facilities are more and more in demand. Each type of leisure facilities has its special considerations during design. MAA has experiences in various types of such facilities.
